FAQs on Building a Cleric in Xenimus

Q: What is the best race for a cleric?

A: I'd say Gnome for starting stats

Ok to build a cleric is simple, there aren’t many choices you need to make, about the only choice would be if you want to get 15 or get 22 strength to wear plates. Also you can go more extreme by going 12 strength giving you another 3 points to put in on more important stats (This is what I would do but EJ may add more strength requirements on future armors).

To help on the thought of plates let me show you about plates.

with 12 str: (leathers) with 22 str: (plates)

elven leather: ac 4 plate mail: ac 6

magic elven leather: ac 9 magic elven plate: ac 12

reflective cloak: ac 13 reflective plate: ac 15

lightning leather: ac 16 lightning plate: ac 20

mystic bone mail: ac 40 mystic plate: ac 30

mystic bone mail: ac 40

All armors above level 20 have NO strength requirements.

So if your like me and see that the biggest difference is 14 ac it's totally not worth 10 points into strength.

So lets make a cleric.

Call it what you want. And we’ll make him a Gnome.

Start with these stats:

STR: 10

AGI: 10

CON: 16

INT: 18

WIS: 21

Then if you can get someone to take you to all the shrines including great hall making your stats.

STR: 12

AGI: 12

CON: 18

INT: 20

WIS: 23

These are the points we will put on the character to level 9. (Starting from Level 2)

2: +1 con

3: +1 con

4: +1 con

5: +1 int

6: +1 int

7: +1 int

8: +1 int

9: +1 wis

Your characters stats at level 9 will now be.

STR: 12

AGI: 12

CON: 21

INT: 24

WIS: 24

So far this will be a good char.

After level 9 till level (as high as you can get) add all wisdom.

If you want the reason for adding all wisdom after this it's simple.

#1: All the main spells a cleric uses are based on wisdom.

#2: How much mp a cleric has is based on wisdom.

#3: Resistances are based on wisdom.

So seeing as you have enough intelligence to meet all staff requirements there’s no real reason to go anything else but wisdom.
